Beverly Jean Furman

Beverly Jean Furman, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 10, 2025, in Oregon, Ohio. She was born on January 26, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio, where she spent her formative years and cultivated a deep appreciation for family and nature.

Beverly's career commenced in the realm of interior design, where she worked at Majestic Paint for five years. Following her creative stint, she transitioned into clerical work and dedicated the remainder of her professional life as a secretary for Toledo Public Schools until her well-earned retirement. Education was also a priority for Beverly; she attended Waite High School in Toledo and furthered her knowledge by obtaining an associate’s degree in interior design from Davis College.

Beverly was known for her vivacious spirit and her unwavering support for those around her. An outgoing individual, she was always on the move, embracing life with an infectious sense of humor. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for gardening, while her creative side shone through in her fondness for scrapbooking. She was a caring person who went out of her way to help anyone she encountered, often giving her all to ensure the wellbeing of others.

Family was at the heart of Beverly's life. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always striving to provide them with everything they needed and more. Among her cherished family were her daughter Melanie Furman and her significant other Timothy Pruss, her son Kenneth Redman and his significant other Tiffany Lawlor, as well as her grandchildren: Alisha Furman, Amber Hill, Troy Furman, and Arianna Lawlor and six great-grandchildren. Her bonds extended to her siblings, which included Ervin Oswald Jr., Cheryl Oswald, Karen Soovagian, Bonnie Oswald, and Melene Oswald.

Beverly was predeceased by her father, Ervin Oswald Sr.; her mother, Georgine Oswald; and her sister, Genene Oswald.

The legacy of Beverly Jean Furman is one of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation for Beverly will be held on May 21, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. A funeral service will take place the following day, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at the same location. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
