On January 19, 1952, Betty Fay Hill Sansbury was born to the late Andy and Lorine McKine Hill in Slate Springs, Mississippi. She transitioned home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Betty was a very caring and loving woman who always made sure everyone had what they needed. She often kept extra things on hand in case she came across someone in need. Betty had a generous spirit and loved spending time with her husband and church family. She also enjoyed playing cards, where her competitive nature would shine and was accompanied by the occasional jokes that brought plenty of laughter to those around her. On Sunday afternoons after church, you could always find her at her sister Sarah's house.
Betty never stayed indoors for long. She embraced the world with joy, whether it was fishing, gardening, picking wild greens, or preparing her famous preserves that everyone loved. She was a devoted member of St. Phillips Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She always dressed her best for church, often wearing her beautiful hats, she took great pride in looking her finest in the Lord's house.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Lorine Hill; her beloved uncle R.C. McKine and aunt Myrtlelene McKine, who lovingly raised her as their own; siblings, Alvin, Cora, Richard, Andy Jr., Aduis, Dorine, Marine, Aubrie, Tom, Odis, Annie Mae, Marie, and Hattie; and her grandson, Anthony.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, William "Bill" Sansbury; sisters, Sarah Brandon of Toledo, OH, Shirley (Paul) Naugles of Europa, MS, Joyce Mann of Brandon, MS, and Bobbie McKine of Calhoun, MS; children, Carl (Augusta) Foard and Mary (Greg) McCreary both of Toledo, OH. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kanika, Nehemiah, Eylishia, Sarai, and CJ all of Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Logan, Shawn, Negan, and Kylia; great-granddog, Peaches; her oldest living cousins, Leelon and Martha; special friend, Elaine Woods; along with a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 10:00 am until the start of the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at St. Philips Lutheran Church, 3002 Upton Ave, Toledo, OH 43606.
