Barry L. McNally Sr., a beloved patriarch and dedicated friend, left this world on January 30, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 80. Born on August 13, 1945, in Gibson Station, Virginia.
A hard worker through and through, Barry spent over forty years as a press operator for Acklin Stamping (Ice Industries) before finally hanging up his boots—well, maybe more like steel-toed shoes. He could certainly teach the younger generations a thing or two about dedication and work ethic, even if they’d much rather scroll through TikTok during their lunch breaks! Barry proudly attended Woodward High School, where he likely honed not just his academics but also that quick-witted humor of his that would leave friends and family in stitches.
His smile was contagious, and his stories left you wanting more—if you could get a word in edgewise. He adored fishing and watching football, and who better to share those moments with than his son, Barry Jr.? Those fishing trips were less about catching dinner and more about father-son bonding, although we suspect if the fish were caught, there were probably more than a few tall tales woven around them. Barry was also known for zipping around on motorcycle rides with his loving wife Margaret, their daughters Stacey and Kelly, their son Barry Jr., and a cacophony of friends. It's safe to say he took the phrase 'biker family' to heart.
Throughout his life, he had a passion for cooking, which probably made him the star of every family gathering—at least until someone else tried to show off their culinary ambitions. A devoted Steelers football fan, you'd often find him cheering his team on throughout the season, sometimes a little too loud (but we won't name names here). His love for life extended to attending festivals and the Party in the Park, where he could often be seen living it up and enjoying every moment. Barry was known for being an avid newspaper reader and a lover of plays and concerts—especially when seated beside Margaret, their laughter ringing louder than the stage performances. He thrived in social settings, spending countless joyful hours with coworkers and family enjoying camaraderie at local hangouts like Buddies.
Beyond hobbies, Barry was dedicated to family—a proud husband to his wife of nearly 62 years, Margaret, whom he married on April 25, 1964. Their partnership was a true testament to love and mutual support, and let’s face it, a perfect embodiment of “happy wife, happy life.” Barry idolized his children—Stacey (Rob), Kelly, and Barry Jr.—and cherished the laughter and joy brought by his grandchildren, Brittany, Bryce (Chris), and Erika, along with his great-grandchildren, Audrey and baby Kruger. His sister, Teddi Vaughan-McNally, also holds a special place in his heart, as do a host of extended family and friends who experienced Barry’s kindness firsthand.
Barry was a big-hearted man who opened his home to all and made everyone feel welcome; why wouldn’t they after coming for his famous fish fry? He was actively involved in the Fraternal Order of Eagles 197, serving in various roles since 1988, including Vice President and inside Guard—a position of honor that suited him well given his loving, supportive demeanor.
He is survived by his rock-solid family and a treasure trove of memories filled with humor, adventure, and love. As we gather to celebrate Barry's life, we remember the laughter he brought into our lives, no matter how perfectly timed his sarcasm was. His legacy will surely carry on through the countless ways he touched hearts.
