Barbara Jean Voegeli, age 85, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25th, 2023 with her family by her side at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born October 21, 1937 in Sylvania to Ralph and Aileen (Cookson) Frank. Barbara graduated from Burnham High School, Class of 1955. She soon started a family, raising her children in the Sylvania area. Barbara was employed in Retail Sales at a local department store for many years.
She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, following every season religiously. Barbara also enjoyed attending Detroit Red Wings games in the original Olympia Arena also known as "The Old Red Barn" in Detroit. Cheering on NASCAR drivers like Jeff Gordon was another hobby Barbara enjoyed.
She was a member of an Amateur Radio Operators Group-WLC, with her husband, Robert. For several years they went on camping trips in various areas with the group, sharing their radio operations experiences.
When it came to her music delights, Barbara enjoyed many country classic artists like Ricky Skaggs, Patsy Kline, Loretta Lynn, George Jones and Tammy Wynette. One of her favorite old time TV shows included 1970's, "Hee-Haw".
Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She cherished the time spent with family and friends. And many of these times were always filled with love, laughter and great stories, many of which brought smiles and chuckles to everyone.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 28 years, Robert Voegeli; brother, Paul Frank and sister, Helen "Peach" Wegener.
She is survived by her loving children, James E. (Jennifer Ward) Phillips, Jr., Kevin R. (Sarah Schaedler) Phillips, Diane K. Phillips, Lisa A. Voegeli, Theresa (Jaleen) Tocco and Joshua R. Phillips; grandchildren, Megyn (Bill) Weaver & their daughter Juno; Katii (Chris) Mannausa & their daughters Braylii & Ayvii; Alyson Phillips, Julia (Mikayla Richter) Phillips, Nicole Metroff, Lyanna Rose, Augustus Phillips, Harlow Phillips, Nicholas Phillips, Kaylee (Bradley) Mauder & their children Sabryn, Cian, Landon, Camden and Colson; James Brannon, Alex Wegener, Leanna Wegener and Kyle; brothers, Ralph Eugene (Jennifer) Frank and their children, Scott & Lori; Mark John (Shelly) Frank and their children Chelsea and Danie; David Richard Frank and his children Rick, Justin "Bubba", Kristen, Dustin and Nikki and additional nieces & nephews, Jason, Lori, Dale, Chris, Stan, Pam and Dawn. Also left to cherish her memory is her lifelong friend, Carol Grodi.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd, (419-392-9500) with funeral services beginning at noon.
