Barbara passed away September 4th at the age of 84. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1960, then attended the University of Toledo. Barbara was employed by various financial institutions, and with her real estate license, she was associated with Wilcox Realty Co. and Wilcox Building Co., where she specialized in rehabbing and selling homes for governmental and financial-related agencies. At the end, she was still doing bookkeeping for an apartment complex. As she would always say, “Work and play equals longevity.”

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: Jack and Sally Lucas; ex-husband, Stephen Vass; niece, Shannon Cawthorn; and significant other, Frank Wilcox. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Short; sister, Terri (Robin) Cawthorn; nieces, Hannah Cawthorn and Jennifer (Robert) Mapes; grandchildren, Alexandria and Brock Short; along with many cousins and extended family members.
