Barbara Kinzel-Shultz, a beloved entrepreneur and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio, on August 4, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on June 16, 1935, in the same vibrant city that would host her many adventures, Barbara left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
As a gifted businesswoman, Barbara touched many lives through her various ventures. She was particularly proud of her award-winning Babette's Dog Grooming Salon/School, one of the first in Toledo winning New York City's Grooming Competition for 7 years in a row, which reflected her unique ability to blend creativity with compassion. Her Mini Mug House business, where she crafted and sold personalized miniature mugs, showcased her artistic flair and dedication to providing joy to those around her. Barbara's passion extended to replacing and repairing silverware pieces with her Silver Ladies business, and selling a multitude of intriguing antiques, always identifying the needs of her clients and acting on them with unwavering grace.
More than her professional accomplishments, Barbara was an extraordinary person who fostered connections and shared warmth. Her personality lit up every room, as her friends and family will attest. She found joy in playing cards, dominos, and poker; she loved gathering friends to engage in board games or pool, and her spirit thrived during camping outings in her younger years. Known for her heartwarming hospitality, Barbara delighted in entertaining friends and family at any occasion, often creating events that would become cherished memories.
A proud graduate of Notre Dame High School, Barbara was multifaceted — a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and wife, but her most treasured title was that of a friend. She enveloped herself with love and kindness, becoming the person others turned to during life's highs and lows. Her loving presence was forever sustained by her devoted network of family and friends.
Barbara's life journey was also marked by loss. She married her beloved husband, Thomas Shultz, in 1969. Their years together were filled with love and happiness, a testament to their deep connection. Though they shared only seven years together, the impact of his passing endured in her heart. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Frieda Kinzel (nee Haddad), father, Frank Kinzel, and brother, Robert "Bobby" Kinzel, all of whom she held dear.
Barbara’s legacy is one of heartfelt generosity, creativity, and an unmistakable zest for life. She will be fondly remembered as a woman whom was truly unforgettable in every way, just like her favorite song. She was a true friend who left a lasting impression. As we gather to honor her remarkable life, we celebrate the memory of a woman who will forever stay in our hearts.
