Barbara Louise Kanavel, born Waters, was a cherished member of her family and community, whose kind and loving nature touched the lives of many. She was born on September 15, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, and peacefully passed away on November 9 2024, in Lambertville, Michigan, after a lengthy illness.

Barbara dedicated her life to her family, forming an unbreakable bond as an Air Force wife with her husband, Walter Kanavel, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised four beloved children, surviving children, Katrina Keith and her husband Steven, and Miguel Kanavel. Barbara's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kristen, Janice, Michelle, and Catherine, and her seven great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

In addition to her commitment to family, Barbara was actively involved in her community and held a proud position as a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #192 in Temperance, Michigan. Her resilience and spirit were evident in both her personal and civic contributions, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.

Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter Beth Ann Kanavel, daughter Gretchen Grady, sister Celia Stevenson, and brother Russell Waters Jr. While her absence will be deeply felt, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Barbara Louise Kanavel will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many.
