Barbara Ana Fleig, 97, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully, March 2, 2026 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.
Barb was born May 3, 1928 a daughter of the great depression. Times were different and difficult then, and Barb found herself at Miami Children’s Home for her first twelve years.
After finally leaving the orphanage, she was re-introduced to her family, and a normal life. She grew to love and respect her brother and two sisters during the next years.
She attended Harriet Whitney Vocational School, where she made many new friends, and enjoyed her teenage years. In the 1950’s she met her future husband, Charley and remained married to him until his death in 2022.
Barb was a Homemaker until her boys were raised. She got her Drivers License in her 40’s, and then decided to find a job. She found her career at Hickory Farms, in the Southwyck Mall. Barb’s personality made her a fixture in the front of the store, convincing people to get inside and shop.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charley, her father and mother, brother and two sisters, daughter-in-law, Sandy and grandson-in-law, John.
She is survived by her sons Edward (Beth), Kenneth (Wasana), Ronald and Charles (Lora); grandchildren, Matthew (Alison) Fleig, Melissa (Doug) Holland, Christopher Fleig, Veronica Kandik, Tyler (Gerry) Fleig and Jessica Fleig; great-grandchildren, Payton, Isabelle, Ryder, Olivia, Oliver, Lila, Samuel, Eleanor and Cecilia.
Anyone that met Barb was struck by her outgoing personality and interest in people. She was special and will be greatly missed.
