Barb Anderson, a vibrant spirit and devoted artist, passed away on July 21, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 81. Born on June 19, 1944, in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, Barb blossomed into an extraordinary woman known for her natural artistic abilities. Throughout her life, Barb dedicated herself to her family, serving as a cherished homemaker, loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Barb's warmth and zest for life were matched only by her remarkable talent for creating beauty around her. She specialized in floral paintings, bringing joy and color to those lucky enough to see her work. Her artistic flair extended beyond mere painting; it infused every corner of her home as she skillfully decorated spaces to reflect her vibrant personality.
Indeed, Barb had an undeniable ability to provide for those she loved, always ensuring they had what they needed. Though her artistry captivated many, it was her spirited personality that truly won hearts. Always impeccably styled, she was known for her gorgeous hair and stunning eye makeup, never stepping out in public without perfecting her appearance. Barb was a true reflection of elegance and beauty, both inside and out.
She had a special way of connecting with everyone she met, cultivating friendships and gathering a multitude of cherished memories. Family gatherings filled with laughter, creativity, and love were hallmarks of her life. One of her proudest accomplishments was building her greenroom, surrounded by family and friends—an embodiment of the close-knit relationships she nurtured throughout her life. As a passionate storyteller, she also wrote several Christian children's books, sharing her faith and creativity with the world.
Barb is survived by her son, Robert (Deeann) Schaefer; her grandchildren, Robbie Jr., Stephen (Tessa), Brant, Gayle, Michael, Kimberly, Angel, and Matthew; and many loving great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Peggy (Roger) Allen.
Barb joins her beloved deceased family members, including her mother, Mary Magdalene Davis (nee Smith); her father, Dillard Dewey Davis; her brothers, Bill Davis and Roger Davis; and her son, Ernest "Ernie" Michael Schaefer.
Her legacy of love, art, and connection will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. A memorial gathering will be held on July 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.
Barb Anderson was indeed a very special person—an artistic soul who brought laughter, beauty, and love to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be profoundly missed.
