Listen to Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Austin Lee Burdue, a vibrant soul born on April 22, 2003, in Toledo, Ohio, who left us far too soon on May 8, 2026, in his hometown. Austin’s life was a spirited journey marked by an infectious zest for life, a love for family, and a boundless enthusiasm for the simple joys that made every day remarkable.

Austin graduated from the Maritime Academy in 2021, a proud milestone that reflected his dedication and ambition. He built his career as a utility operator with Clarios, where his hardworking nature was admired by colleagues. Yet, it was beyond his professional life that Austin truly shined—as a fun-loving, outgoing, and spontaneous individual who brought laughter and light wherever he went.

Those who knew Austin treasured his playful spirit and heartwarming personality. He was the life of every gathering, always ready with a goofy grin and full of energy that was utterly contagious. Adventurous and hyper outgoing, Austin wanted nothing more than for everyone around him to share in the good times—whether it was singing his unique melodies loudly, dancing without a care, or simply enjoying a day of shooting pool, golf, or gambling.

Austin’s passions extended to his love for fast cars, proudly cherishing his Scat Charger and Durango—both symbols of his pride and freedom. He also celebrated a major personal accomplishment: purchasing his first home, a milestone that spoke to his determination and independence.

Above all, Austin adored his family and held his nephews and niece close to his heart. His mother, Tammy Burdue; father, Shad Burdue; sister, Cassie Burdue and partner Camren Clark, brother, Tristan Deck; grandmother Pamela Burdue and her significant other Jim West; grandmother Kristen Lewinski-Honisko; great-grandmother Judy Schwind; nephews Malachai and Malique Johnson; niece Leilani Clark; along with uncle Shane Burdue, aunt Debbie Hahnlen, uncles Mike Burdue and Jacob Chinnis, aunts Alexia Lewinski, Krista Lewinski, Sara Dickess and her husband Kevin, uncle Tyler Lewinski, girlfriend Vanessa Skouroukos, and many extended family and friends continue to cherish his memory. They, along with all who were blessed to know Austin, carry the warmth of his spirit in their hearts.

We also remember loved ones who preceded Austin in death: his brother Shad Burdue, Jr.; grandfather John Lewinski Jr.; grandmothers Trudy Lewinski; uncle John Lewinski III; and aunt Lori Chinnis.

A visitation to honor Austin’s life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio. The funeral service will follow on Friday, May 15 at 11:00 am at the same location, with a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery, 5725 Hill Ave, Toledo, beginning at 12:30 pm.

Austin Lee Burdue was much more than a name—he was a radiant spirit whose love for life, laughter, and family shaped every moment he lived. Though his time with us was brief, his legacy of joy, adventurousness, and laughter will echo in the hearts of those who knew him forever. May we find comfort in knowing that such a bright light, though dimmed too soon, continues to shine in the cherished memories he leaves behind.
