It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony C. “Tony” Gartee, aged 42, of Toledo, Ohio, who left us on February 22, 2026, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Born on June 7, 1983, in Toledo to Richard and Pamela (Clark) Gartee, Tony lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness.
A proud graduate of E.L. Bowsher High School class of 2001, it was there that he met his beloved soulmate, Cindy. Together, they built a life full of cherished moments and laughter. Tony dedicated himself to his work as a certified forklift driver at Brenntag Great Lakes, where he made lasting friendships.
Tony was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the thrill of wrestling, cheered for the University of Michigan Football team, and celebrated the New York Yankees when their team took to the field. Music filled his days, and tattoos were a canvas for his personal expressions. However, above all these interests, Tony's greatest joy came from spending treasured time with his family. His warmth and vibrant spirit touched many lives, and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Cindy, and his beloved children, Salvatore Curtis, Sergio Paul, and Maria Joyce Gartee; parents, Richard “Frenchy” and Pamela Gartee, a devoted brother, Joey Gartee; mother and father in-law, Kim and Jose Charles and his special cousin, Angela (Jeff) Faria. His extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his cherished canine companion, Suge. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Paul and Margaret Gartee, M. Doris (Clair) Miller, and Curtis M. Clark.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tony's life at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A Sharing of Memories will follow immediately at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Project I AM, Pitt Crew, or to support Maria and Sergio’s education fund at Central Catholic High School.
As we mourn Tony’s loss, we remember his kindness, his unwavering spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him. In the words of wisdom, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil...” Let us carry his memory in our hearts as we celebrate his remarkable life.
