A devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Voice for the Healing
Angela R. Franks, age 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2025, with her family at her side after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Born on August 23, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, Angela lived a life defined by faith, service, and deep love she held for her family and community.
Angela was preceded in death by her beloved son, Angelo Joseph "Joey". His loss served as a driving force behind her advocacy. She served as a passionate volunteer with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and as a community liaison for the Lucas County Traffic Safety Committee. She spoke openly and bravely about her family's experience, helping to educate the public on the lasting impact of impaired driving.
Later in life, she continued her mission through the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by the Toledo Police Department's Traffic Safety Division. Angela's work touched countless lives of those homebound and isolated. She brought companionship, dignity, and connection to those often overlooked.
A breast cancer survivor, she faced every challenge with quiet resilience and courage. Whether overcoming illness or comforting others in their own struggles, she met life's hardships with strength and compassion. Her legacy is one of love and resilience.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Franks; her daughters, Teresa Chalupa and Michelle Franks; and her cherished grandson, Andrew Chalupa. Her memory will live on in their hearts and in the many lives she impacted through her advocacy and example.
Angela's family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and aides at Heartland Hospice of Toledo and Glass Peaks Assisted Living for the compassionate care and dignity they provided in her final weeks.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church, 4940 Harroun Road, Sylvania, OH 43560. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m, with graveside service immediately afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Victory Center, www.thevictorycenter.org, in honor of Angela's enduring care for others and her belief in the healing power of hope.
Angela will be remembered not only for the love she gave, but for the strength she shared, and the voices she helped lift. May her memory be eternal.
