With deep love and sorrow, the family of Angela Mary Fox shares her passing on August 19, 2025, at the age of 74.
Angela was born on September 13, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph and Ann Jiannuzzi Mattoni, both now deceased. She lived in South Toledo her entire life, where she was surrounded by family, faith, and friendships that shaped her into the extraordinary woman she became.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenton Fox, and her dear son, Craig Fox, as well as her brother Joseph Mattoni. She is survived by her son, Joshua Fox, and his wife, Jillian; her daughter, Jessica Fox; and her beloved grandson, Aizen Standish, who was the light of her life in later years. Angela is also survived by her brother, Samuel A. Mattoni, and his wife, Helen Ann; her sister, Kathleen Mattoni Macke; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Angela’s Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted and active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where she attended faithfully and sang joyfully in the choir. For over 20 years, she was also a cherished member of a women’s prayer group, which became a treasured source of fellowship and strength.
Her professional life was equally remarkable. Angela joined her brother Sam in the U.S. Postal Service and became one of the first female letter carriers in Toledo. Beginning at Heatherdowns Station in 1968, she went on to serve at several stations throughout the city before retiring from Reynolds Corner in 2011. She carried her strong work ethic, cheerful spirit, and love of people into every day of her career.
Angela was a woman of many talents and passions. She loved reading, cooking, baking, and especially sharing her famous sausage and peppers-always a highlight of family gatherings, particularly at Christmas. She lovingly created hand-stitched baby quilts for the newest members of the family, gifts that will be treasured for generations. Her joy for life also extended to music and travel; one of her most treasured memories was journeying to Italy with the Una Voce Choir, where she sang for St. John Paul II and performed in historic churches, including St. Ignatius in Rome and the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi.
Those who knew Angela will remember her for her warm heart, her deep faith, her infectious laugh, and her ability to make everyone feel like family. She lived a life of love, service, and joy, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive guests Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Angela’s life was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will remain a blessing forever.
