Amanda J. Abraham

October 29, 1961 — July 17, 2025

Amanda J. Abraham, a beloved social worker and cherished matriarch, passed away on July 17, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 63. Born on October 29, 1961, in Texarkana, Arkansas, Amanda dedicated her life to serving others and embodying the values of love, compassion, and selflessness.

Her illustrious career as a social worker spanned many years, during which she made a significant impact at the YWCA in downtown Toledo and Lucas County Job and Family Services. Amanda's powerful voice and unwavering commitment to helping those less fortunate earned her the admiration and respect of both her colleagues and the families she served. Her passion extended beyond just her profession; she was a staunch advocate for domestic violence awareness and devoted time to speaking at schools, educating young minds about this crucial issue.

Amanda’s academic journey was admirable, reflecting her dedication to her profession. She completed elementary school at Mount Vernon, attended McTigue Junior High, and graduated from Rogers High School. She furthered her education at the University of Toledo, where she earned an undergraduate degree in social work, ultimately achieving her master's degree in social work from Lourdes University. Her proudest accomplishments include being a loving mother, an adoring grandmother, and a passionate professional.

Beyond her career, Amanda found joy and purpose in her family. She loved her granddaughters, Raelyn and Narissa, more than anything in the world, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her genuine spirit and remarkable sense of humor brought laughter and warmth to gatherings with family and friends. She also enjoyed coaching grade school baseball, participating actively in sports, and celebrating the beauty of nature through her many hobbies. A devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, Amanda’s faith guided her actions and decisions throughout her life.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas James Abraham and Mary Louise Boles, and her sister, Gwendolyn Boles. She is survived by her devoted sons, Racoreo Wright, Renaldo Taylor, Rashad Taylor, and Marcus Taylor, along with her loving sister Sheila Abraham and brother Jeffrey Abraham and his wife Jeannette. Amanda will be deeply missed by her dear granddaughters, family, and a host of friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

As we remember Amanda J. Abraham, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound commitment to making the world a better place. Her legacy of caring for others, inspiring compassion, and nurturing a vibrant family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
