Allan Lewis Sandusky, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away in Sylvania, Ohio, on November 25, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on October 8, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Roy and Audrey Sandusky. Allan's journey through life was marked by a passion for service, a dedication to family, and a remarkable zest for storytelling that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Allan built a commendable career as both a police officer and a civil engineer with Owens Corning, where he made significant contributions over many years. His expertise not only shaped his profession but also allowed him to leave a lasting impact on his community. As a Navy veteran during the Vietnam Era, he carried the values of honor and commitment with him throughout his life.
An extraordinary storyteller, Allan had a special gift for captivating his audience, especially at his apartment complex, where laughter and warmth filled the air whenever he shared his tales. His intelligence shone brightly, reflected in his roles as a professor and his work in Saudi Arabia, where he designed a tent structure at Mecca. He also made his mark constructing bridges along the East Coast. Allan was proud of his numerous accomplishments but often highlighted his experiences of flying small planes, a skill imparted to him by his father, though he never obtained his pilot's license.
Allan's love for family was profound. He stood as the beloved husband of Jackie Sandusky for 51 treasured years. Together, they forged a partnership filled with love and understanding. He is survived by his son, Michael Caskey (Lynn), who carry forward his legacy of integrity and loyalty. Allan was a proud grandfather to Jonathon Caskey (Merab de Freitas), Michael Caskey, Emily Caskey (Jeffrey Williams), Ricky Caskey (Destiny Marie), Erika Caskey Martinez (Amado Martinez), and Ethan Caskey, alongside eight great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Allan was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Roy and Audrey Sandusky, as well as his son, Donald Caskey, and his granddaughter, Erin Caskey. Their memories lived on brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
A man known for his honesty and devotion to politics, Allan was also lovingly stubborn, and he shared a deep bond with his cherished cat, Hammie. His laughter was infectious, often accompanied by a belly that would jiggle with glee, bringing warmth and comfort to those around him. Allan's presence will be profoundly missed, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and many loving friends.
Allan will be honored at a funeral service on December 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park. Allan’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
