Alice Elizabeth Schroeder, age 100, of Toledo, Ohio passed away with her daughters by her side on September 25, 2023. She was born on December 1, 1922 to the late Otto and Mary (Kent) Rexin in Farmington, Michigan.
After graduating from Howell High School, Alice worked at the Bomber Plant during WWII. She met the love of her life, the late Norman Schroeder, while working at Kaiser Motors, marrying him on Valentine's Day in 1948. In 1953, Alice and Norm moved to Toledo where they raised their two daughters. She retired in 1979 from Carrier Distribution Company, where she was a territorial sales manager. Alice enjoyed her bowling team for over 40 years, and traveling with her husband to various casinos around the country. She loved to volunteer at the Discover Shop and for the American Cancer Society, assisting with women undergoing breast cancer treatments.
Alice moved to Rocky River in 2018. On Alice's 100th birthday the Mayor, Pamela Bobst, proclaimed December 1st to be Alice Schroeder Day in Rocky River, Ohio. Alice celebrated her monumental birthday with many family and friends in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Alice blessed the world with her amazing sense of humor and her beauty for the last 100 years, she will be fondly missed by many.
In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was also preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Lockrey; son-in-law, Craig Saunders; and brothers, George Rexin, Howard Rexin, and Floyd Rexin. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandy Saunders and Debbie Schroeder; grandsons, Dan Saunders, Nick Saunders, and Scotty Saunders; great-granddaughters, Kiley and Charlie; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd, Toledo, Ohio, where a Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
