Marcella Ann Symons, age 89, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023 at Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings in Sylvania. Ann was born on March 31,1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Emerson and Audrey Hawkins (Cox). She married the love of her life, James Russell Symons on December 5, 1952. Ann was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was an avid animal lover who kept cats and dogs over the years and was always ready to help out any strays. Ann also had a passion for all sports, especially football and golf with Ohio State as her favorite football team. She worked as a medical patient transporter at Toledo Hospital for 11 years.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, James; siblings, John Hawkins and Rebe Agee (Fred); and niece, Jennifer Agee. Surviving are her son, James R. Symons, Jr. (Therese); grandson, Jay Douillard (Anna) with great-grandson, Ian; granddaughter, Amanda McDuffie (Connor) with great-grandson, William. Also surviving are her son, Bryan L. Symons (Cindy); granddaughter, Amy Symons (Ryan) with great-grandchildren, Clark and Vivian; granddaughter, Jennifer D’Annibale (Stephen); plus nieces and nephews, Mark Agee (Shelley), Linda Metz (Mike) and Kevin Agee.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300), 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, where a Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am. A private inurnment will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
