James Richard “Darby” Davis was born on March 14, 1953 to Harold Edgar and Joyce Ann (Smith) Davis. He passed away unexpectedly at the age of 70, on May 16, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Edgar Davis, his grandparents, other relatives, and many lifelong friends. He is survived by his mother, Joyce A Davis; siblings, Deb (Don) Kosmider, Bill (Rita) Davis, Hal Davis; uncle, Howard Davis; and nephews and nieces, Dan Kosmider, Dana Kosmider, Jade (Dan) Campagne, Nolan Davis, Jake (Jess) Davis. He is also survived by his great nieces, Isabella Kosmider, Gemma Campagna, Samara Campagna; his soon to be born great nephew, River Davis; many family members, lifelong friends, and his dog Mattie.

Jim graduated from Rogers high school in 1971. He joined and served in the Marines from 1979 to 1982, Semper Fi. Jim trained for boot camp at Camp Pendleton and he was stationed at Camp LeJeune. He had been married twice. Jim worked at UPS for 16 years before his retirement. He had an enormous love of baseball and was a huge Yankees fan. Jim spent many years in a fantasy baseball league with many dear friends. He looked forward to and enjoyed his annual trip to Cooperstown New York, for his visit to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jim was an avid reader and especially liked to read about World War II. Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Wolfinger Cemetery which is located within Secor Metropark, near the National Center for Nature Photograph (Please meet at the gates of the cemetery for the graveside service by 12:50 p.m.).
