Friedel grew up in farm country in Germany. He went to military school, Flieger Technische Vorschule in Berlin Rudow, Germany. Friedel served in the German Airforce, during WWII. He met his lifelong sweetheart, Ursula, in 1947 shortly after World War II and married in his hometown of Brelingen. Together, they immigrated to the United States in 1951, where they made their home in Toledo, Ohio and raised two children. Getting married and raising his children was one of his proudest moments. His smile and love will forever be missed by all who knew him. He was a wonderful dad and opa. This isn't goodbye, it is see you later!
