Doris Mae Myers, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away from this life due to a long illness on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Hospice Care in Sylvania Ohio. Doris was born to the late William D. and Maude Gibson, on December 15, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio

She graduated from Woodward High School in 1950. After graduating high school, she met Mr. Richard W. Grant Sr. and they married in Toledo, Ohio 1954, then relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where they lived until 1964. They had two children born to them in the marriage union. She eventually relocated back to Toledo, Ohio with her two children in 1966. She became employed at Tiltson Carburetor manufacturer and later met and married Mr. Willie F. Myers in 1969.

She left Tiltison factory and went on to work at Champion Spark Plug factory for years until she eventually followed her dreams of interior design.

She became employed by Sears Department Store in 1986, where she became a custom drapery designer until she retired in 1996. Not wanting to stay retired, she went back to work as a receptionist at the East Toledo Family Center, where she enjoyed helping families.

Doris really enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends and going on family trips whenever possible. She also really enjoyed cooking and sewing and decorating homes. She always wanted the best for her family and wanted everyone to live a happy life.

In her last years, she dedicated her life to God and enjoyed her studies of the Bible. She really enjoyed attending her congregation meetings and fellowship with her Christian Brothers and Sister’s.

Doris is survived by two children: Richard W. Grant Jr. of Toledo, Ohio and Debra J. Grant King (son-in-law, Michael King) Toledo, Ohio; brother, John Gibson (wife, Patricia) of Canada.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Tai Reid - Farrow, Shinikia Jones, Richard Dixon, Jessica Dixon, and Caleb; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of loving cousins the Griffin family, and nieces and nephews the Gibson family the Matthew’s family and the Brown’s family.

She is preceded in death by her parent’s, William and Maude Gibson; six siblings, Edith Marie Brown, Eugene Gibson, Russell Gibson, Muriel June Matthews, Burton Gibson, and Dewight Gibson; one grandson, Farrell S. Reid II; and one great grandson, Phillip W. Cunningham III.

Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
