In Memory Of
William Joseph Amato
1935 - 2023

William Joseph Amato, age 87, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, after battling a long fight against prostate, bladder, and back cancer. William was born on September 19, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Charles and Josephina (Muni) Amato.

William was a 1953 graduate of Macomber High School. After high school, he joined the United States Army. Following coming back from the Army, he became a carpenter, which he did for his entire career, until he retired. In his free time, he used to go fishing with his buddies and loved to bowl. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. William was a loving father and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for his family.

William was a very generous man when it came to family. He was also a very honorable man. William will be greatly missed by his two children, Kelli and Joe. May he finally be at peace and return home to the Lord and his mother, whom he loved and missed so much.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his daughter, Kelli Amato; son, Joseph Amato; his estranged son, William James Amato; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; one brother; one nephew; and one grandchild.

A graveside service with military honors will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Toledo, where he will be laid to rest.
