1939 - 2022

Gladys Young (Bronson), always known as “Jo”, recently of Temperance, Michigan, and Holland, Ohio originally, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022, at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born May 30, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Donald and Doris Bronson. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband Nelson and brother Robert.

She is survived by daughters Linda Rechtine and Karen Badger; granddaughters Jill Badger and Julie (Craig) Hayter; great-grandchildren James and Adrianna Hayter and Lulia and Sydney Phiri; sister Dee (Willard) Taylor and brother Burt (Donna) Bronson; nieces and nephews.

Jo graduated from Libbey High School, class of 1957. She co-owned Tracy Market in Northwood, Ohio for many years and enjoyed her customers whom she thought of as friends. She loved spending time with her great-grandkids, especially throwing their birthday parties and teaching them how to play games. She also immensely enjoyed playing bingo with her bingo ladies at the Sylvania Senior Center.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 11:00 am – 11:30 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions-Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd Toledo, OH 43614 (419-381-1900). Memorial Services will begin Tuesday at 11:30 am at the funeral home.

In Jo’s memory, the family requests that the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) and the American Cancer Society (donate3.cancer.org) be considered for any charitable contributions.
