Christy J. Sterger, age 71, of Luna Pier, Michigan passed away on September 12, 2022. She was born to Christopher and Margaret (May) Sterger on April 14, 1951 in Toledo. Christy was the second retired female Iron Worker with Local 55. Christy was an extremely proud Iron Worker, and felt accomplished in her career. During her teenage years, she was a champion swimmer and diver. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting, journaling, community service and caring for others. Christy was a longtime active member of Luna Pier Baptist Church, where she was passionate about serving the Lord.

Christy was preceded in death by her father and brother, Nicholas. She is survived by her loving mother; brother, Stan W. Sterger; daughters, Rachel L. Portnoy and Sarah (Keith) Simms; grandchildren, Kayla (Dallas), Leah (Jake), Dalton (Ashlyn), and Keegan Simms; her first great-grandson, Banks Gaston Steiner; and her fur-baby, Champ “Little Dog,” and several extended family members.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo (419-473-0300), where a memorial service will take place at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jim French officiating.
