Norma Jean Solek
1932 - 2022

Norma “Jean” Solek, age 89, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at home with loving family by her side. She was born on June 15, 1932 to Watson and Isabelle (Grubb) Parker in Lima, Ohio. Jean graduated from DeVilbiss High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years for many local businesses. Jean was strong in her faith and loved the Lord. She was an avid traveler, here and abroad. Jean was passionate about square dancing, teaching it and even ran a national convention for many years. She liked playing card and board games. Jean loved spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren. She was known as “Mom” to many inside and outside her family. Jean was very caring, giving and generous; to know her was to love her. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Mick” Solek; sisters, Virginia “Lee” Weilant, Sandra “Kay” Grischkowski, and Nancy Lockert; and brothers, Harold “Sonny” Parker and David Parker. Left to cherish Jean’s memory are her loving children, Diane (Steven) Russell, Michael (Andrea) Solek and Steven (Connie) Solek; grandchildren, Daniel (Alicia), Nicholas (Tiffany), Adam, Michael E., Sara, Evelyn (Ezra), Michael C., Matthew, and Steven; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Robert (Joyce) Parker, Richard (Linda) Parker, John (Debbie) Parker, and Kathleen (Phil) Dale; “adopted family”, Darryl (Cheryl) Morrison, Ron Moon, and Guerta and Belinda; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
