Susan J. Rechtine, age 66, resident of Gainesville, Georgia and Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital. She was born on December 31, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Richard George and Ruthie Erelene (Baker) Rechtine.

A graduate of Sylvania High School, she continued her education at the University of Toledo, receiving a bachelor’s degree in legal studies. With her degree, she had worked for a few paralegals in the Toledo area. With her love for travel, working as a flight attendant for many years was her dream job. Susan had worked for Republic Airways, United, and Delta. She had visited many places around the world, a few of her favorites being Hawaii, The Bahamas, Myrtle Beach, and Paris. Susan enjoyed going to the beach and having her toes in the sand. She was an active member of local 135 Teamsters and liked to read travel books, going to the San Diego Zoo, and attending dance competitions, especially in Hawaii.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her daughter, Sonja (Zach) Brackett; grandchildren, Jordan, Kelsey, and Kinsley; sisters, Joyce Rechtine, Brenda Rechtine and Beverly Kiszella; brother, Richard Rechtine; and two nephews, Shane and Dustin Kiszella.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Shannon Rechtine.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio, 43623, on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, where her funeral will take place at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Humane Society.
