In Memory Of
John T. Snyder
1946 - 2021

John T. Snyder, formerly of Maumee, Ohio, peacefully took his last breaths on November 21, 2021, with his loving wife of 53 years by his side. John was born October 16, 1946 in Toledo to John B. and Mary M.(McElheney) Snyder.

He grew up in west Toledo and attended Rogers High School, Class of '64. After several years attending the University of Toledo, John went to work as a Computer Programmer/Analyst and Consultant with several companies, finally retiring from Schindler Elevator as a Systems Analyst after 23 years. John was also active in Masonry for 49 years, proudly serving twice as Master of Toledo Fort Industry Lodge #144 and serving as Treasurer for a number of years.

At the age of 12, a passion started in John that would make him a legend around the area. Many know his name from the Maumee Valley Gun Collectors Association, which he proudly was a member for over 50 years, while serving as Secretary for 40 of them. Starting in 1977, John worked for the Ohio Gun Collectors Association as a business manager for 5 years and continued to be a member for the next 44 years. He was also a dedicated member of the NRA for more than 40 years, along with the Michigan Antique Arms Collectors (M.A.A.C.) for 41 years. Additionally with firearms and military memorabilia, John was also known for his extensive collection of coins. He was gifted his first set of collectible coins at the young age of 11, and the appreciation only escalated from there. He attended monthly coin clubs and became an active President of the Glass Center Coin Club.

John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Karen; his three beautiful daughters, Stephanie (Matt Burzynski and his daughter, Emma) Sickelbaugh, Samantha Vascik, Shelby (Eddie) Lutz. He was also extremely proud of his three grandsons, Drake Joseph, Edward Charles, and Trenten John. John also wanted to acknowledge his many friends in the collecting community, especially his good friend, David Szymkowiak, who he traveled the country with, going show to show for decades.

The family will receive guests Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where a Celebration of Life and Masonic Service will begin Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For those who cannot attend, can watch the service live or in their own time by clicking here.

A sincere thank you to Fritz Kunz, Justin Donaldson, and the many others that have helped his family in the past year. John's family would also like to give a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and aides of Hospice of Northwest Ohio that came in to support John and his family these last few weeks.
