Richard W. "Rick" Miller
1954 - 2021

Richard W. “Rick” Miller, age 67, of Holland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2021 at home surrounded by loving family. He was born on February 3, 1954 to Richard Jr. and Della (Powers) Miller in Toledo. Rick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a welder for many years in the Toledo Ship Yard before moving to Texas and becoming a welding inspector which he retired as. While living in Texas, Rick obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and became an ordained minister. He was strong in his faith, very involved in the church and a member of the praise and worship team where he played the guitar. Rick also loved to spread the word of the God and read the Bible.

Rick was a history channel buff, along with the military channel. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, being outdoors and working in the yard. Rick was an avid reader, loved drawing, painting, and coloring. Rick loved taking drives in the country with his wife, Nin and stopping to have lunch at different places along the way. They loved traveling together with Simba and Scooter in their 5th wheel. Rick looked forward to family reunions and spending time with family. His smile, spirit, generous and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jenny “Nin” Miller on October 12, 2021; and siblings, Lois, Ricky and Mark. Left to cherish Rick’s memory are his children, Greg Miller, Starlena Miller and Shannon (Dave) Heider; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy (Mike) Rosenbrook, Mike Miller, and Stanley (Shannon) Miller; sisters-in-law, Judy Fields and Tina Shields; brothers-in-law, Tim (Jole) Staton and John and (Cindy) Staton; special cousin, Marsha Durham, who was always by his side as she was Jenny’s; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews who all adored Rick and will greatly miss him.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at The Dwelling Place, 8201 Angola Rd., Holland, OH 43528 with gathering from 10 – 11:00 in church. Officiating will be Pastor Roger Trowbridge. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the family to offset funeral expenses.
