In Memory Of
Robert Joseph "Deaf Bob" Wiegand
1952 - 2021

Robert Joseph "Deaf Bob" Wiegand lost his life in his home on Friday September 17, 2021. Robert was 69 years old. He was born on September 5th 1952 in Toledo Ohio to Lester and Phyllis (Hierholzer) Wiegand.

Robert (Bob) came across to some as a quiet individual. (Haha) but if you knew him you knew he was a very social person. He made friends everywhere he went because of his happy-go-lucky demeanor. Bob was a graduate of Devilbiss High School where he made and kept some amazing lifelong friends. He was employed at the Toledo Jeep plant for 13 years and had many very fond memories of his Jeep family life. He was also a member of the Toledo deaf Club for many years, partaking in many activities, and sports involved with the club. Early on in life he discovered the passion for sports. Baseball in particular. He instilled this passion to his children as well as his love for the Detroit Tigers and his beloved Notre Dame football team. Go Irish! He was an avid bowler and spent the last thirty years bowling at the new glass Bowl Lanes, where his friends eventually became family. It was his home away from home. Bob also enjoyed family camping trips at KOA, many years of playing softball, country concerts, playing cornhole, and just sitting back and drinking a beer with the people that mattered most to him. He also cherished the memories of family vacations to Venice Florida where he enjoyed walking on the beach, swimming in the ocean and just being in the sunshine. Bob was extremely family-oriented. His children and his grandchildren meant the world to him and he would constantly remind them exactly of that. His smile, laugh, silly antics, and booming personality will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. He had an undeniable passion for life and a heart of gold. To know him was to love him.

Those Left Behind to forever cherish his memory are his loving children, Kristy Wiegand, Michael (Jackie Andrews) Wiegand and Josh ( Christal Klem) Blake, whom he loved like a son. Grandchildren, Jordan Alden, Cailyn Alden, Kenley Wiegand, Aileigh Wiegand and Alec Wiegand and brother James (Daniel Surant) Wiegand along with numerous cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Phyllis Wiegand.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, where the memorial service will take place at 8:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date. A special memory or online condolence may be expressed to the family by visiting www.NewcomerToledo.com.
