Maria Lynn Baxter, age 68, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Toledo. She was born on February 21, 1953, to the late Jack Baxter and Helen Darr.

Maria attended DeVilbiss High School. She was very talented and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, where she would knit scarves, mittens, and hats for the homeless. Maria loved beautiful flowers, such as, Tulips and Roses, listening to Elvis Presley and was an avid board game and card game player, particularly Rummy. Maria had a good heart, great sense of humor, and loved to joke with people and make them laugh. Maria will be sadly missed by all who knew her and will leave an empty space in the lives of those who knew her.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her son, Greg (Jenn) Sickmiller; grandchildren, Grace and Ross Sickmiller; four sisters, Teri (Andy) Anton, Debbie Baxter, Linda Steffen, and Kasey Darr; nieces and nephew, Shelly Frank, Keri Rood, and Josh Steffen; her beloved cat, Boots; and several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Priscilla Baxter, who raised Maria like her own.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Fresenius Kidney Care Westgate for their love, care, and compassion they gave to Maria; it will never be forgotten.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Monday, September 27, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, where her funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, with Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
