In Memory Of
Suzanne Joyce Lenz
1938 - 2021

Suzanne Joyce (Morrison) Lenz, age 83, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at St. Anne’s Mercy Hospital. She was born on June 22, 1938, at the Toledo Hospital, and was adopted by her loving parents, Alfred and Christine Morrison when she was six months old. She went to McKinley grade school and DeVilbiss High School. Suzanne graduated in 1956. She married the love of her life, Donald P. Lenz in 1959, and together they had five children, including a set of twins.

Suzanne was employed for 21 years and Ohio Casualty Insurance Company, both in Toledo and Cleveland, until it closed in 1999. She went through many miles and three cars traveling back and forth to keep up on watching her grandchildren grow. Suzanne made it to the birth of all of them. She then took an early retirement and moved back home to Toledo to be close with her family. Suzanne was a member/officer in the American Auxiliary #421 in Fairview Park, the VFW #7647 in North Olmstead, The FOE (Eagles) in Berea, Ohio, and the 8/40 Auxiliary. She would spend time going to the Veterans Hospital in Cleveland to spend time with the vets, called bingo and went to the Ford and Chevy Plants every spring to collect money selling poppies for the American Legion Auxiliary, to donate to many charities, including the wheelchair games.

She was very proud of her five children; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. She loved to cook and it didn’t matter for how many. Suzanne loved sending leftovers to whoever wanted them. She loved making stuffed cabbage, pigs in a blanket, lasagna, beef barley soup, salmon patties for all that wanted them. Suzanne loved camping, feeding the squirrels and birds, and enjoyed her plants, trees, and flowers in the backyard.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her daughters, Denise Lenz, Donna Winstead, Karen Lenz-Winterhalter; sons, Steve (Vanessa) Lenz and Mark (Annie) Lenz; eight grandchildren, Scott, Dia, Corey, Megan, Dylan, Anastasia, and Nick; eleven great grandchildren; and her dearest friend and “sister she never had”, Wilma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Christine Morrison; husband, Donald Lenz; first born grandchild, Phillip Nagle Jr.; and son-in-laws, Fred Winstead Jr., and Steve Winterhalter.

Family and friends may visit at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, where the funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm, with Pastor Roy Southerland officiating.
