He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Toledo Ohio, He was a Believer!
Edward attended Jesup W Scott High School and received a diploma/Welders certification from Job Corp. With the certification and from working along side his grandfather and uncle, Edward learned many trades and was a skillful plumber, electrician and welder. Edward worked as a welder at several factories including Jeep & Hobart, as well as working as an Independent contractor.
Edward married/separated from Theresa Owens and they had 3 children. In addition to his mother and father he leaves to cherish his precious memories, daughters, LaTrese Owens-Clayton and Adrienne Owens; son, J.R. Owens; grandchildren, Patrick, Brooke, Jahred, Errielle, Franswon, Adrian, Jasmine, LaJacia, James, Sienna and Manaya; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Carpenter (Ricardo), Carlena Lassister (J.C.), Annette Duhart, and Cynthia Bibbs (West); longtime partner, Claire Haynes and children Colleen, CaTina, Candice, Corey, Carey and 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear cousin Raymond Shinaul and a many other family members and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Jenny Boyd for assisting Edward at home as his caregiver and support person for the last year and a half and all who were involved in his care at St. Luke's McClaren Hospital, as well as Spring Meadows Nursing Facility.
The family will receive guests Friday, September 10, 2021 from 12-2:00 pm. at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio (419-381-1900). A Memorial Service to celebrate Edward's life will begin Friday at 2:00 p.m.
