In Memory Of
Russell K. Moebius
1932 - 2021

Russell Kenneth Moebius, 89, a lifelong resident of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with his eternal Father on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving and appreciative family.

Russell received his early education at St. Catherine of Siena and was a 1950 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. He was a 3rd Class Gunner's Mate in the US Navy, a charter member of Regina Coeli Parish, a Regina Coeli Pee Wee football coach, a proprietor (with his brother Bill) of Moebius Brothers Greenhouse at Laskey and Bennett, a stationary engineer with Gulf Oil Co. and Toledo Hospital (retiring in 1997) and a member of Conn-Weissenberger Post 587.
Russell led an active lifestyle, spending his days dancing, camping in almost every state in the U.S. and Canada, enjoying tours with the Turners, traveling with the love of his life, Barbara, playing with his sons in the family golf tournaments, taking walks (especially with beloved dog Toby), playing softball, passionately following the Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers, reuniting with lifelong friends during their ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) get-togethers, canoeing, playing cards while listening to Boots Randolph and his Yakety Sax, and shooting pool.

Left to honor his life and treasure his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara, sons Terrence L. (Karen), David J. (Joan), Gregory A., step-son David (Colleen), step-daughter Anne Marie; daughter-in-law, Lee Moebius; grandchildren Jennifer, Brent, Howard, Valerie, Andrew, Kevin, Kristen, Jamie, Ryan, Courtney, Alexander, Christopher, Brandy and Aaron, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and countless friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, William and Stella Moebius; first wife, Lois; son Russell Moebius; brother, William (Betty) Moebius; sisters, Coletta (Pern) McCaw, Wilma (Frederick) Beening, Donna (Harry) Graves, Dorothy (Paul) Metzger, Estelle (Leon) Rhoades.

Many thanks to the nurses, physicians and caregivers at McLaren St. Luke's Hospital, Swan Creek Rehabilitation and Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue who provided assistance and comfort to Russell over the last few weeks.

The family is most appreciative of Russell and Barbara's neighbors who provided friendship and support through the years.

"He was rough, tough, hard to bluff with lots of guts and determination."

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
