In Memory Of
Davida Elaine Badyna
1937 - 2021

Davida Elaine Badyna, 83, of Brunswick, Ga., and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 12, 2021, after a brief illness.

Born Aug, 23, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, Davida was the daughter of the late Max Moldawsky and the late Lita Rose Moldawsky. She was also preceded in death by her children, Traci Lynne Badyna and Troy Champion Badyna; her husband, (her Knight) of 58 years, Joseph Stanley Badyna; and her sister, Belinda Johnson Kemmerer.

Davida graduated from Toledo's DeVilbiss High School and attended Toledo University. Following a career in hospitality management, she went on to retire from Meals on Wheels where she devoted her time to helping others. Family and friends were of utmost importance to her and she was a friend to many. She was active with her husband Joe in the Saipan Association, Old Newsboys, Indian Guides and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Davida was involved in the PTA, Keyser Mothers Club, several bowling leagues and other charitable endeavors. She enjoyed many crafting hobbies including needlepoint, afghan creation, dollhouse furniture making, flower gardening and, later in life, took up painting and received awards for her landscapes. Civic duty was of importance to Davida where she worked with the board of elections for many years as a voting precinct manager.

She was lovingly referred to as Bubba, Dee Dee, Grandma Badyna or Mom. Davida and Joe had such a deep love, they married twice: eloping on Dec. 30, 1958, and holding a second formal ceremony on June 27, 1959. Known at the time of their marriage as modern day "Romeo and Juliet," Joe remained Davida's "Knight" and she remained his "Clarence" for over five decades. They lived their entire marriage and raised their three beautiful children in the same home they purchased just after they married. Their home served as the pinnacle of family celebrations. Davida lived in the same home still, after Joe passed away only to move to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law in sunny Georgia just two years ago.

Today, and every day, we hope you will join us in celebrating the joy that Davida brought to so many lives. Her infectious laugh, joyous spirit and caring nature were the attributes we will hold dear and hope to live on in all those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include son, Timothy "Bud" and daughter-in-law, Lea King-Badyna of St. Simons Island, Ga.; daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Karen (Kramer Badyna) and Jason Carpenter; and the sunshine of Davida's life, granddaughter, Kayla Lynne Carpenter of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Susan Decker (Jack) of Delta, Ohio; brother, Marek (Susan Sterling) of Maumee, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday July 25th at Newcomer Funeral Home on Heatherdowns. Visitation starts at 9am and Memorial Service at 10:30. A luncheon will follow at Premier Catering at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Traci Lynne Badyna and Troy Champion Badyna Foundation. Make checks payable to Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, in check memo list account #1030935 and mail to: Fidelity, P.O. Box 770001, Cincinnati, OH 45277 or contribute to the charity of the donor's choice.
