In Memory Of
Charles J. "Charlie" Sharkey
1935 - 2021

Charles J. “Charlie” Sharkey, age 85, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Mercy St Vincent Hospital. Born on November 11, 1935, Charlie was the youngest of five children born to Francis and Mary Jane (Ramsay) Sharkey. He held many stories of growing up in the Old North End of Toledo. Stories of his youth always included friends, cars, and crazy adventures. Charlie was an avid bowler in the 1970’s, participating on several local leagues and was known to have bowled at least one perfect game. In the following years he and his sister Mary, collected toys and were owners of Kids Again Collectables on Sylvania Ave. His passion was collecting everything Star Wars, and it was through this, that he forged many long-lasting friendships with other collectors and the now grown, neighborhood kids. But his heart truly belonged to his beloved dogs. Over the years, Charlie rescued all of his dogs through local shelters. Being a confirmed bachelor, he was devoted to his “pups.” Charlie will be remembered for his easy going and caring manner, his sense of humor, those blue eyes and sweet smile.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and John Sharkey; and sisters Mary Sharkey and Helen Superczynski. Charlie is survived by his brother-in-law, 6 nieces, 6 nephews; special friend and Padawan, Eric; and his beloved dog, J.J. Charlie was fortunate and grateful to have many neighbors and friends who were a daily part of his life through phone calls and visits. He will be missed by many.

Per Charlies wishes, there will not be a visitation at this time. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider any local animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
