James J. “Jim” Whitten, age 81, of Swanton, OH passed away March 27, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was born September 28, 1939 in Toledo to John and Sue Whitten. Jim was employed as a Manager with Seaway Food Town for more than 40 years retiring in 2000. He enjoyed shooting pool and coached baseball for Springfield Little League. Jim also served as a volunteer fireman for Springfield Township. He owned and operated his own tree trimming business.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marcia L. Whitten; children, Darrell Whitten, Peggi (David) Tomlinson, Joseph (Mary) Whitten, Robert Cope, Brian (Bryan) Cope, Amy (Jeff) Foks and Mark (Shana) Brubaker; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and sister, Sharon. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings and grandson, Dustin Cope.
The family will receive guests Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900).
