He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for 8 years. In his free time John enjoyed ceramics, traveling, and working with his rose bushes.
Left to cherish his memory is his life partner of 21 years, Jim Parsons; sisters, Viola Rose, Ruby (Ed) Reynolds, Patricia McCullough, and Faye Jenkins; brothers, Thomas (Karen) Rose and George (Sue) Jenkins; 10 nieces; 6 nephews; 19 great nieces; 22 great nephews; 6 great-great nieces; and 4 great-great nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive guests Monday, March 29, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, .
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ryan White Program in John's memory.
