In Memory Of
Ajay Mahajan
1947 - 2021
Ajay and her husband, Dr. Vijay Mahajan, emigrated from India to Cleveland, OH in 1972. With the birth of their three children, Tina, Vineeta, and Bobby, the family settled in Toledo, OH, a community that became their true home.
Ajay proved herself an exceptional mother and professional over her lifetime. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Ohio then worked at the Toledo Hospital clinic, all while raising her three children with love and affection. Ajay was a determined woman, spoke the truth, and was always a source of positivity, capable of finding the silver lining on even the darkest days. Over five decades, Ajay and her family were integral in the development and construction of the Hindu Temple of Toledo. It was through the Hindu Temple that she continued to foster lifelong friendships and develop their extended Toledo family.
Ajay considered her family to be her true source of joy. She loved her children unconditionally and instilled the principles of kindness, empathy, and hard work. She celebrated their achievements blissfully and held their hands through times of struggle. Ajay was a source of everlasting love and support for her husband up until her final days. She and Vijay built a wonderful life together and travelled the world. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this November. The love she showed for her daughter-in-law, Sharmi Mahajan, and her two son-in-laws, Vamsi Bonthala and Katen Pabley, was only outshined by her affection for her eight grandchildren, Mia, Sahil, Jay, Neil, Rheidan, Eshan, Rhoen, and Rhaiva. Ajay also held a special place in her heart for her adopted family, Dr. Salil Avasti, Dr. Dipti Avasti, and their children Rishik, and Vinayak.
Ajay is survived by her husband, Dr. Vijay Mahajan, and her children, Dr. Tina Mahajan, Vineeta Bonthala and Dr. Bobby Mahajan and their families who loved her dearly. Along with her immediate family, Ajay’s brother Avinash Gupta, and sisters, Adarsh Goel, Indu Sethi, and Anu Behal, with her many nieces and nephews, will help to keep her memory alive. While we all grieve the loss Dr. Ajay Mahajan, we can take solace knowing that her soul is finally at peace. She will watch over us, as she did for her children and husband, celebrated our achievements blissfully and holding our hands through times of struggle.
