Garnet Hendricks Simpson-Hedge died on October 15, 2020 in Toledo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Hedge. Garnet is survived by her son, Shawn (Sandee) Simpson; two grandchildren, Sara (Johnny) Baker and Shawn (Becky) Simpson, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Peyton Simpson.

Garnet taught school for 44 years. She began her educational journey at Morris-Harvey College in Charlestown, West Virginia, then moving to Toledo, Ohio and transferring to the University of Toledo. Garnet received her Bachelor of Education in 1962, Master of Education in 1970, and Educational Specialist in 1971.

Garnet was a member of Palestine Chapter 51, Order of the Easter Star. She was trained and volunteered in Hospice as an eleventh hour companion.

Garnet will be missed greatly by her family.
