In Memory Of
Rusty Smith
1966 - 2020

Rusty Smith lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 53 on September 13, 2020. He passed away in his home surrounded by the ones he loved.

He was born on December 27, 1966 to Ronald J. Smith and the late Rose M. Chamblee.
In his younger years Rusty worked as a cook at Family Place and Yankee Doodle Inn before beginning his career in the construction field. He most recently worked as an Independent Contractor.

Rusty was a honest, loyal, dedicated, stubborn, and known as a simple man. He loved his wife, kids and grandkids beyond measure and left them with many memories to cherish. Rusty enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed cooking for a crowd. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and appreciated the friendships that came along with it. The most memorable hunting trips included when Rusty shot 2 deer with one shot, and when he got his buck that hangs on the wall. Some of the best fishing he ever did was with his brother-in-law, Tim Parsells, while visiting in Texas. Rusty treasured all 29 years of the Olander Trout Derby teaching kids how to fish. He took any kid interested in hunting or fishing under his wing and made sure to teach them all he could.

Rusty is survived by his wife of 18 years, Angela (Miller) Smith; children, Anthony (Sarah) Smith of Holland, OH, Courtney Smith of Toledo, OH; 10 grandchildren, Brandon, Kadence, Matthew, Ashton, Anthony Jr., Andre, Juliana, Jackson, Declan, and Rylee; father, Ronald (Kathy) Smith; siblings, Dave Smith, Rich (Sherry) Smith, Deb Phillips, Tracy (Mark) Stykemain, Dennis (Stacey) Smith, and Sally Osborn; 6 step-siblings; and numerous other family and friends. Rusty was preceded in death by his mother, Rose M. Chamblee; and step-sister, Kim Chamblee.

In lieu of flowers, Rusty’s wish are memorial contributions to be made to the family.

Family will be receiving guests from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Homecoming Park, 7807 Angola Road, Holland, Ohio 43528. Funeral Service will follow at 5:00 P.M. at the park. All services will take place in the Gazebo, located in the back of the park.
