Jesse Person, Sr., age 87, of Toledo, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at Ridgewood Manor. He was born on July 27, 1933 to Willie Sr. and Pearl (Spearman) Person in Grenada, Mississippi. Jesse was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was also known for telling war stories. Jesse was a former Minister at Grace Missionary Church in Battle Creek, MI. He was an avid sports fan especially of the New England Patriots and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Jesse was an excellent cook, known for his fish, and venison mostly. He had a great sense of humor and smile that will be missed. Jesse's spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Jesse is survived by his loving children, Diane Tangreti, Ronald (Helen) Person, JoAnn Person, David Person, Jesse (Diane) Person, Jr., Schenelle Person and Dorcas Person; step-daughter, Lynn Cook; special grandson, Brandon Cook; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 5 – 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) with Memorial Services beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
