Glenn Henry Chambers
March 11, 1959 - July 19, 2020

Toledo, Ohio - On Sunday, July 19, Glenn H. Chambers, 61, loving husband, and father of two children passed away at home from the effects of the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Glenn was born on March 11, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA to Glenn and Lois (Williams) Chambers, their first of three children. In 1977, he received a full National Merit Society scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated in 1981 with a BS in Computer Science from “Pitt.” After graduating college and working, he joined PARSEC (Pittsburgh Area Science Fiction group) where he eventually became President in the 90s. During this period, Glenn and his friends and family loved attending science fiction conventions across the United States. At one convention in Dayton, OH, he met Susan Bernadene Kirkendall, who became his wife. They were married in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Perrysville, PA on August 20, 1994.

Susan moved to Pittsburgh initially, but in 1996, they relocated to Toledo, OH to be closer to Susan’s family, who were from nearby Wauseon, OH. They purchased their first and only home together on Centennial Road that had a beautiful lot, reminiscent of his grandparents’ farm where he grew up. Their first child, William Charles was born in 1997 followed by Donovan Robert in 2001. Over the years, Glenn worked for various IT companies where he developed close friendships. In addition to being a dedicated family man, he enjoyed countless hours as a key and well-respected member of SAGES, a local role-playing and fantasy board gaming group. His fellow SAGES, as well as long-time friends and family are remembering Glenn’s ebullient personality and generosity of spirit.

Glenn’s legacy is one of a man of high intelligence, curiosity, cheerfulness, and outgoing personality. No matter the challenges presented with numerous job changes, health issues, and family losses, he moved forward in a positive and upbeat manner. His loss to his immediate family is immeasurable. His extended family and large circle of friends will also miss him greatly. The world is a less joyful place without him.

In addition to his wife, Susan, and two sons, William (23) and Donovan (18) of the home, he is survived by his mother, Lois (Williams) Chambers and brother, Ronald Chambers of Wexford PA, his in-laws, William and Phyllis (Perry) Kirkendall and brother-in-law, Patrick Kirkendall and his wife Amy of Wauseon, OH, one maternal aunt, Betty (Williams) McClymonds, of Garner, NC and numerous cousins on both sides of his family. He was predeceased by his father, Glenn H. Chambers (1992) and his sister, Marion M. Chambers (2011).

No services are planned at this time, but a memorial service is TBD.
