Josephine Lucille Scurles, age 90, of Toledo, passed away May 15, 2020 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Josephine was born October 19, 1929 in Eatonton, Georgia to Roger Hunter and Roberta Barnet. She was employed with the Lucas County Job and Family Services as a child care provider. Josephine was also a leader of a Girl Scout troop. She was an active member at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board as well as sung in the choir. She enjoyed to sing one of her favorite praise songs when asked by family members. In her youth, Josephine enjoyed playing basketball and later sharing stories with her family about her pivoting moves and having the opportunity to travel with the team. One of her favorite past times was embroidering and giving her creations to family, friends and church members. Josephine always enjoyed taking a trip to Wendy's for a Frosty and receiving lemon flavored snacks. She looked forward to attending bible study, mission meeting and going to Home Town Buffet with her sister-in Christ, Minister Ella Williams.

In addition to her parents, Josephine was also preceded in death by her loving husband William and her siblings, Graddie Griffin, Volzie Griffin, Roberta Warner, Mores and Cores Griffin. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Richard (Mavis) Scurles and Joanne Scurles, grandchildren, Richard (Nora) Ketcham, Briana West, Travaun West, Christopher Darden, LaTasha Harris; great-grandchildren, Akil West, Akilah West, Aliyah West, Messiah Thomas, Braxton Ketcham, Brooklyn Hightower, Skky Howard, Krishon Darden, Krishala Darden, Cryana Burton; god-daughters, Pamela Fitzpatrick and Mia Singelton; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Scurles, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to the current environment surrounding the coronavirus, Memorial and Burial services will be announced at a later date.
