Takoma Curry “Pookie” Johnson, age 40, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 25, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Pookie was born on April 5, 1979 to Johnny Curry and Mary B. (Parker) Johnson in Toledo. He had a great sense of humor and liked making people laugh. Pookie enjoyed working on cars and small engines. He often liked taking day trips when he could. Pookie was an avid card player and was a sports fan. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family; Pookie’s charming smile, vivacious spirit and protective nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Takoma is survived by his siblings, Takara Duran, Takanta (Michael) Green, Takina (Mario) Johnson, Takoda Johnson, Takeva Johnson and Takisha Johnson, Marsha Hudson and Sheria Monegan; fiancée, Vicky Hollingshed; aunts, Vivian Johnson and Judy Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and other loving family members.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
