Frank J. Pokorny
1917 - 2019

Frank Pokorny, age 102, of Toledo, passed away Monday, September 30, 2019 at Genacross of Lutheran Village. He was born on September 24, 1917 to Emil and Pauline Pokorny in Toledo. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during WWII. He was employed with Libbey Owens Ford for many years before retiring. Frank enjoyed golfing, boating and playing cards, especially euchre. He was an avid sports fan, especially of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. Frank had a donut and coffee every morning and a beer every night. He looked forward to family gatherings with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank’s smile, and one liners will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Karen Johnson; grandson, Tracy Beabout; and sisters, Josephine Beck and Lucille Stevens. Frank is survived by his loving son, Larry (Judy) Pokorny; grandchildren, Mark (Karin) Pokorny, Paula (Brian) Woods, Matthew (Bethany) Pokorny, and Lisa (Justin) Paxton; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 3 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – West Sylvania Chapel 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with visitation one hour prior in the funeral home. Entombment will be Private in Toledo Memorial Park.
