In Memory Of
Charlene Denise "Char" Hennessey
1951 - 2019

Charlene (Char) D. Hennessey, age 67, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Sunday January 20, 2019 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. She was born on August 12, 1951 to Raymond L. and Leona M. Hennessey (Schassberger) of Toledo, Ohio.

Char graduated from Start High School in 1969 and worked for many years in Downtown Toledo at The Spitzer Building and One Government Center in the 1970’s-80’s. Most recently she was employed with St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center from 2005 until 2017.

Char was devoted to her dogs (Schatzi, Ruffles, Rags and Ozzy), and had a knack for gardening, cooking and baking. She was known for her delicious cooking and exorbitant holiday feasts. Char created beautiful ceramic masterpieces and enjoyed crafts, an eclectic taste in music and her Sauvignon Blanc.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Heather N. Schmidt (fiancé Aaron Stoianowski), nieces Cheri and Shelly and nephew Shane. Charlene is preceded in death by her son Chad Schmidt, mother Leona M. Schassberger, beloved sister Colleen B. Cummings, cherished companions “precious Schatzi” and Ruffles and father Raymond L. Hennessey.

The family will honor Char’s memory in a Celebration of Life Ceremony that will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park on Saturday August 31 at 10:30am, Deacon Dave Smith presiding. Those planning to attend the ceremony are asked to congregate along the Central Avenue entrance. There you will be welcomed and escorted to Char’s final resting place at the HENNESSEY bench.
