In Memory Of
Opsie Callis
1929 - 2022

Opsie Callis, age 93, of Ottawa Lake, Michigan, passed away on December 3, 2022, at her son’s house, surrounded by love. She was born on January 4, 1929, in Press, Kentucky, to the late Alford and Belle (Napier) Miller.

Opsie had worked at The Toledo Hospital for 21 years, where she retired in 1993. In her spare time, she loved tending to her garden and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved cooking for her family, especially breakfast. You would never walk through her door without hearing her say “let me make you a bite to eat.” Opsie’s love and smile will forever be missed by all who knew her. This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later…

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her two sons, James (Mary) Garrett and Dave Garrett; daughter, Ladonna Luppe; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a lifelong friend of 50 years, Ann Symons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, who passed in 1992, Leonard Callis, whom she married on July 20, 1953; and sons, Fred Garrett and Thomas Callis.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am. Following the service, Opsie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Toledo Memorial Park.
