Paul F. Holmes, age 93, of Toledo, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at the Toledo Hospital. He was born on September 10, 1928 to Fred and Reta (Fancher) Holmes in Blissfield, Michigan. Paul was a well-known farrier in the area for over 40 years before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed tinkering with all sorts of projects, rarely were his hands idle. For years Paul crafted stamped leather work, from purses and belts to pictures and frames, winning him several ribbons at local fairs. He also enjoyed crafting pieces of art out of horseshoes. Paul’s fun loving demeanor, with his jokes and teases, will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Caroline B. and Mary J. Holmes; son-in-law, Jeff Klocheska; and siblings, Marion Delcamp, Norman Holmes, Fred Holmes, and Glenn Holmes. Paul is survived by his children, Alan Holmes, Cindy Smith, Carol Klocheska, James (Cindy) Holmes, and Paul “PJ” Holmes; grandchildren, Kyle, Courtney, Dennis (Maggie), John, Amy, Jason (Christine), Christine, Kalynn, and James; great-grandchildren, Ella, Liam, Nathan, and Ava; and brother, Ralph (Mary) Ferris.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Schmidlin. Interment will be private at Toledo Memorial Park.
