In Memory Of
Joan Alice Rooks
1936 - 2022

Joan Alice Rooks, age 86, resident of Holland, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at her home. She was born on June 25, 1936, to the late Edwin and Irene (Rawlings) Eyre.

Joan was a 1954 graduate of Holland High School. Following school and getting married, her full time job was taking care of her husband, children, and home, which she did so well. Joan was part of the Merickel-Farley Trout Club and enjoyed knitting, playing her online games, such as Big Fish, and painting, which she had painted samples for Craftmaster. Family meant a lot to Joan; she looked forward to calling her sister Donna every day, sometimes twice a day. And just like family, her dogs, Maddie Anne and Matilda Jane, who were more like her babies, she loved dearly. Joan will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Chris (Tina) Rooks, Cindy (Don) Felker, Keith (Lucia) Rooks, and Charlie Rooks; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Donna Bloom; sister-in-law, Anne Eyre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, George Rooks; brothers, Ray and Edwin; and sisters, Jane Grabowski and Eddie Jo Eyre.

Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road, Toledo, Ohio 43617, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the funeral home, at 11:00 am. Joan will be laid to rest, next to her husband, at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
