In Memory Of
Peter Ian "Papa Pete/Beepa" Maxwell
1952 - 2021
Pete has been a member of the Toledo Sailing Club for 34 years. He was currently serving his second year as Commodore, which was truly an honor to him. Pete helped grow the Sailing Club to where it is today receiving the honor of “Best Marina” for the last 2 years for Toledo City Paper’s “Best of Toledo”. Pete was also very active in the Holland Pickleball Club. He was the first treasurer of the club which was formed in 2013 followed later by serving as club liaison. Pete served many hours to help grow the Holland Pickleball Club to what it is today.
All who knew Pete, knew his love for baseball; he was a diehard New York Yankee fan. He never missed a game, even during birthday parties and holidays. Pete enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball while growing up. He was in charge of the church softball team and church basketball open gym for many years. Pete also enjoyed watching OSU football with his friends and family, going to car shows and driving Brecken around with Carolyn “Meemaw” to show him off on the golf cart.
Pete’s sense of humor, quick wit, charismatic smile, smirk, kindness and generous nature will be something that will be truly missed. If you met him, you had a friend for life. Pete was known for giving his son’s friends their lifelong nicknames, along with his own friends. Nothing was more important to Pete than his wife, Carolyn. He adored his entire family, was proud of them, and loved spending time with them, especially his grandson Brecken. Pete’s smile, spirit and gentle soul will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, best friend and soul mate of 48 years, Carolyn; sons, Peter R. (Jamie) Maxwell and Matthew E. (Emily) Maxwell; grandson “Beepa’s best buddy”, Brecken Roy; brothers, Rex (Patricia) Maxwell and Bruce (Robin) Maxwell; brother-in-law, Charles (Cheryl) Flack; nieces and nephews, Christie (Jeff) Heng, Danielle (Michael) Zakrewski, Charles (Christie) Flack and Adam Maxwell; cousins, Paul (Donna) Rehfeldt, Gary (Patricia) Fadell, Dr. Michael Fadell, David Fadell, Abraham Fadell and Patty Fadell-Malhoit; English family; aunts, Lalita Watts and Annabel Watts; cousins, Ian (Karen) Watts, Dominic Watts, Stephen (Jacky) Watts, Jennie (Martin) Snowden, Jonathan (Deb) Watts, Sangita Watts and Raju (Justine) Watts; and many other family members and beloved dear friends.
