1950 - 2021

Larry A. Schenck, age 71, of Temperance, MI, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 15, 1950 to Lorenz and Ella “Jane” Schenck in Toledo, OH. Larry graduated in 1968 from Woodward High School. He worked in boat sales starting out at Brenner Marina and then went on to Toledo Beach Marina for many years. Larry then worked at Charlie’s Dodge in Maumee until retiring in 2019. His greatest passion was fishing and being in the outdoors. Larry looked forward to his annual trip to his “happy place” fishing in several rivers in Northern Michigan. He enjoyed a dirty martini and good cigar. Larry’s laugh, smile, spirit and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Susan (McAvoy) Schenck; sister, Dianne Stange. Left to cherish Larry’s memory are his sister, Luanne (Thom) Swigart; fiancé and childhood love he reconnected with after over 50 years, Nancy Goldsmith; nephews, Karle (Amy) Stange, David “Binky” Laytart and Joseph Laytart; many other loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.

Per Larry’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, Toledo (419-392-9500) assisted the family with professional services.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
